    Who We Are

    The providers at Novant Health South Charlotte Endocrinology are dedicated to treating patients with thyroid disorders, diabetes, osteoporosis, and other diseases and disorders of the endocrine system.

    Endocrinology Definition

    The endocrine system is a network of glands throughout the body that produce hormones. Glands in the endocrine system include the thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, adrenal, pituitary, hypothalamus, and ovaries or testes.

    Hormones are special chemicals responsible for controlling body functions ranging from metabolism to reproduction to growth. When glands produce too much or too little of a hormone, those body functions can suffer. An endocrinologist is a doctor who works to restore the balance of hormones so the rest of the body can function more normally.

    Our Physician

    Dr. Kanakasabai Narasimhan, MD, FACP, ECNU, is board certified in endocrinology; diabetes and metabolism; and internal medicine. Our providers will work closely with your primary care physician to ensure your entire health history is reviewed and considered before determining any treatment plan. Should you require hospitalization, our practice will oversee your care along with hospitalists at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, and will make sure your care before and after is coordinated seamlessly.
